Mandy's Destiny (Ch. 5)

It was about 6 and Mandy decided to go back to her dorm room to prepare for tonight's dinner in the rec hall. Classes were over for the day. Once she reached the dorm, she climbed up the stairs and found their room. She opened the door and found Izzy, Amanda, and Kahlie searching through the inside of Izzy's closet.

"What to wear, what to wear..." Izzy thought out loud.

"Ooh, how about this?" Amanda said, pulling out a really short pink miniskirt and a black tank top.

Izzy tried not to laugh. "Yeah, I wouldn't wear that without shorts and tights, at the very least. You, on the other hand, can wear it if you want. Anytime." Izzy said and Amanda gleamed and took the outfit out of the closet and retreated to the bathroom.

"Hey, Mandy's back!" Kahlie exclaimed, finally realizing that Mandy was there. Kahlie ran over to Mandy and hugged her.

"Hey guys. Getting ready for dinner?" Mandy asked them, after she returned the hug from Kahlie and let her go. Mandy sat down on her bed.

"We sure are! Let's pick you out an outfit!" Izzy said excitedly.

"Nah, I'm good. Hey, I was meaning to ask you earlier, Kahlie, but is that your natural hair color?" Mandy asked her curiously.

"Sure is! Most mermaids have unnatural natural hair colors. It's weird, I know. But I rock the look." Kahlie said proudly and modeled it for Mandy.

Mandy laughed and agreed. Amanda came out of the bathroom and she looked awesome.

"Um Amanda? Aren't you like breaking the dress code?" Mandy wondered, concerned.

"Yeah, but the headmaster gave in to me dressing in whatever I want. She's gotten onto me for it at least a bizillion times, but there's worst things I've done then this, so she just doesn't care." Amanda explained and they all laughed.

"Hey, I wanted to ask you guys something. Is it ok if Gloria sits with us tonight? I promised her that I would. She's really awesome and everyone would love her. So is that ok?" Mandy asked them all.

They all said yes. They were very excited to have two new people in the group today. They headed down to the rec hall and found their table. Mandy waved Gloria over and so she sat down beside Mandy. Mandy introduced Gloria to the group and they all said hey and started talking.

"So today in History of Different Worlds and Realms, I told Mr. Denner that he had a beast mustache and Mr. Denner thought I said that he had a breast mustache! I told him yeah, that's exactly what I said and he got so frustrated, he sent me to detention!" Destery told the whole table and everyone laughed for at least a couple of minutes, until someone yelled, "Yo, Stop laughing!!" So they did, but laughed even harder.

"So Ian is definitely my favorite teacher so far." Mandy gushed and Gloria agreed.

"Eh.. Not my fav..." Carson added.

"Really? He's so cool, who's your fav teacher?" Mandy asked him, curiously.

"Mrs. Wayner. She's totally cool. She's the librarian and Religion teacher. I know she sounds lame, but she's really helped me with my studies and such. Ian's cool, but not as professional than her." Carson explained and smiled weakly at Mandy.

"Oh my gosh, I could die and it would be worth it for that smile..." Mandy thought about Carson and sighed.

"I agree with Carson. She is better than Ian. You can't deny that Ian is totally hot though, Carson." Kahlie added, with a meek grin.

"True, I'll give him that." Carson said and laughed.

"And Ian loves David Bowie. Plus, he's got totally better sense of style than Mrs. Wayner." Amanda added, stuffing her salad into her mouth.

"Yeah, ok. You got your own opinions." Carson said, surrendering.

Suddenly, Izzy gasped. "Izzy? Oh god, are you having a vision?" Kahlie asked her calmly.

"Yes. Something horrible is about to happen! Oh gosh, RUN KAHLIE, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!" Izzy started screaming so loud, it was busting Mandy's eardrums.

Then, Izzy was back to her old self. "What did you see?" Kahlie demanded.

"There was lights... bright lights. They were blinding all of us and there was a group of demons where circling around us and they reached out for you and that's when I woke up." Izzy explained to Kahlie, freaked out of her mind.

"Ok, calm down! Did you recognize the place?" Kahlie asked her, concerned.

"No. It was new." Izzy confirmed.

"Ok. So you don't know when it's going to happen?" She asked. Izzy shook her head no.

"Well crap... We're all gonna die..." Mandy thought to herself.

Everyone sighed. "I'm sorry guys..." Izzy said, softly but apologetically.

"It's cool, Izzy. It's not like you can't help it." Carson said, trying to make her feel a little better.

"Yeah, Iz, it's gonna be ok. We'll get through it, I know it. We always do." Amanda comforted.

"Thanks, guys. I appreciate it." Izzy said and Mandy thought she faked a smile.

Mandy promised herself that she would ask Izzy about that later.

Then, the headmaster was talking into the microphone in front of the whole rec hall. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Since it is a Friday and you have been super good this week, I figured you guys can get rewarded this weekend. Tonight, we will be having a Talent Contest in the auditorium, Movies played in Mr. Denner's room, a Dance Dance Revolution contest in Miss Courtney's Room, and many more things for you guys to do! I hope that you guys will have fun and you are also free to go outside of the school if you are going to come back. You will have to be approved by Miss Courtney, me, or any of the other staff members. Enjoy your weekend and be responsible!"

Everyone ran out of the rec hall. "Hey Mandy. Wanna take a walk with me?" Jared asked her curiously.

"Of course! What's up?" Mandy asked him, as they were walking on the sidewalk.

"Well I just wanted to know more about you." Jared admitted.

"About me..?" Mandy asked him.

He nodded.

Mandy smiled and asked, "Why? I'm not that interesting."

"Yeah, you are." Jared said, almost immediately.

Mandy blushed deeply and said "Thanks. Um what do you want to know?"

"Whatever you wanna tell me." Jared said and grinned.

"Well um... I grew up with my mom in Chicago, I never really had good friends until now, my favorite color is blue, my favorite animal is a Giraffe, um I like to sing, I don't mind public speaking, I love heights, I'm more tomboyish than I am girly, my favorite kind of pizza is deep dish pepperoni, and I still sleep with a stuffed animal." Mandy said and Jared laughed.

"See, you're interesting." Jared said and grinned at her.

Mandy blushed again.

They were in front of the Auditorium. "Let's go inside and see what the others want to do." Jared offered and Mandy agreed. Jared opened the door for her. Mandy said thank you and went inside. Jared went in behind her.

Mandy spotted Kahlie singing "My Way" by Frank Sinatra on the stage. She wasn't bad. She was definitely acting it out, though. When she was done, there was an uproar of applause and she bowed in appreciation.

Kahlie waved them over when she got off the stage, so they went to them. "Hey guys. What do you want to do next?" Kahlie asked them all.

"Dairy Queen Run!" Destery proclaimed and they all yelled, "YES!!!!" and ran out of the auditorium. Mandy ran after them and asked Destery, "What's a Dairy Queen Run?"

"WHAT'S A DAIRY QUEEN RUN?!?!?!?!" He asked, shocked completely out of his mind.

"Yeah, I honestly don't know what it is." Mandy stated plain and clear.

"It's when we go to Dairy Queen and order as fast as we can and get how many people we can into Allison's lame Granny Mini Van." Destery explained, happy as can be.

"We love Patty because she runs well and holds at least 30 people if we squish. Well, we got 30 in there last time..." Allison said and Mandy laughed.

"Sounds fun!" Mandy said and grinned.

Destery yelled to a group of people "YO, DAIRY QUEEN RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!! COME WITH US, GUYS!!!!!!"

They ran over to us.

When we got to Patty, Allison's Van, we had about 60 people lined up single file ready to get into Patty. Patty was a muddy brown colored van. It honestly did look like a Granny Mini Van.

We did manage to fit at least 70 people into Patty. It took about 15 minutes to get to Dairy Queen. It was totally squished and they could barely breathe.

We went inside and ordered 70 chocolate dipped cones.

It took them 30 minutes to get them all to them.

It was epic!

Mandy smiled at all the different people who were there. She didn't know even half of them, but she really felt a big connection to them and to Winny already.

Winny was probably the best thing that had happened to her all her life so far.

She realized that Ian was there. Oh, Mr. Ian. She smiled and waved at him across the room. He smiled and waved back.

Ian was talking to Destery. Destery was laughing so hard, it was ridiculous.

Allison was sitting beside a guy that Mandy didn't recognize. She decided to go up to her. "Hey Allison, who's this?" Mandy asked her, curiously.

"Oh hey, Mandy! This is David, my boyfriend. He goes to a different school nearby Winny. I told him that we were going to Dairy Queen, so he decided to come. He's probably going to come back with us and then leave after a while. Ian said it was cool if he did." Allison explained.

"Oh hi. Allison told me about you. How was it going to Atlantis?" Mandy joked and David laughed.

"It was interesting. I went back to Allison's house and there was water in my ears and everything. It was pretty bad." David explained and blushed with embarrassment.

"Wow, that's crazy." Mandy said and they all laughed.

The Dairy Queen Run went amazing, except it was difficult going back with everyone. They were whiny and complaining.

Mandy ran out of Patty and ran into Courtney. "Well, hi there, Mandy! How's the first day of your new school going?" Courtney asked kindly.

"Great! I love it here! I found out my powers!" Mandy exclaimed happily. Courtney reminded everyone of a bigger, more respectable sister.

"That's amazing, Mandy! I'm so happy for you!" Courtney said and smiled brightly.

"Thanks! Well, I better get going. My friends are going to go watch movies. Bye Courtney, have a nice weekend!" Mandy yelled.

"Bye Mandy! You too!" Courtney yelled.

"I belong here... I really belong here..." Mandy thought to herself, confidently.
